Crafted of Pine.  Assembled with Staples.  Cheap but Great for Storage.

A Perfect Piece for a Breath of Fresh Air.

I Had Eager Painting Helpers.  And a Beautiful Autumn Day.

That was the Plan.   But Lessons Were Learned.

Here Are My 4 Tips on How NOT to Finish Wood Furniture:

1. Let Your Kids Do the Painting and Don’t Check On What They’re Doing.

2.  If the Hardware Doesn’t Come Off, it’s OK, just Paint Around It.

3. After Sanding and Applying Stain to the Top, Don’t Wait for the Stain to Cure.

4.  Apply Minwax Paste Finishing Wax to a Still Tacky Stained Surface.

  1. I tried to refinish a dresser in my son’s room when he was 7 or 8. I got one drawer stripped and thought, nope! Not in a million years. It sat there for a good 15 more years till he married. But I joke with him that one day he’s going to end up in a counselor’s office talking about the bloomin’ dresser! (rolls eyes…)
