I Never Remember a Time When I Didn’t Love Houses.
Houses created from Refrigerator Boxes. Windows and Doors cut with a serrated knife.
Houses designed from fallen trees in the woods behind my House.
Houses drawn with Crayons. Houses built from Shoe Boxes.
Not the Simple Square with Triangle Roof Style Houses. Cute.
Elaborate Houses. Often Castles. With Rooms Upon Rooms.
Connected by Ornate Staircases.
With Towers. Turrets. Archways. Draw Bridges. Yes!
Maybe if I had been an architect or a designer, my thirst for houses would be satisfied.
Of course Watching All Those Home Shows Fuels My Obsession.
I’m still on the hunt. After All these Years. My family is sort of on-board with this craziness.
Location of the House is Not the Issue. Ok, Maybe a Little.
It’s the Size and Age of the House that Sets My Heart Singing.
If I Find the Perfect House, We Will Move. Jobs and School and Life will Follow.
So I Think.
I pour over the site, Circa Old Houses.
Dreaming of Square Footage for days. Wide Sweeping Stairs. Covered Porches.
Pocket Doors. Wood Floors. Towers. Crown Moldings. Footed Tubs. Glass Doorknobs.
But here’s the Big Challenge. The House Has to Be Old, Large And CHEAP.
Cheap as in Under $300,000 Cheap. Way Under.
Crazy, Right? Well you might find some for sale near downtown St Louis if you’re looking for a newly built house to move in to.
But I Do Sometimes Find Some Winners.
Take a Look at My Latest Finds.

Which, of course, are essential to have in the house. If anything, these are the only things you really need to have in a home.
Everything else can be included in its own time.
Is it too early to start looking for Reliant Energy plans in my area?
I don’t want to pay too much for these bills; preferably I only want to pay for what I use.
I definitely think some research needs to be done before making any further decisions.
Needs Renovating. 🙂
Of Course, I am often brought Back to Earth.
How Much are the Taxes? How are the Schools?
How Much of a Fixer Upper Is It Exactly?
Where is it Located?
Is the House anchored by a Community? Supermarkets? Dry Cleaners? Restaurants?
Theatre? Art? Dance? What about Jobs?
Close to a Beach? Close to a River? Attractions? Close to a College?
I understand and can appreciate all that.
But No Place is Perfection…Right?
So My Quest/Obsession Continues.
Searching for Magic. Maybe You Know a House that Fits the Bill? 🙂
