The Staycation Summer is in Full Bloom.
Staying Close to Home by Day…
Venturing Out for Evening Meals with a Zing of Adventure.
We found a Perfect Spot…Just 10 Miles from Home…For an Adventure primed to Happen.
The Range Café.
I’ve posted about it before. It’s always fun. This time we ventured out to the Original.
In tiny Bernalillo, New Mexico.
A rural enclave nestled between the Rio Grande and the Santa Fe rail tracks.
In the shadow of the Sandia Mountains.
On the ride out we watched for coyotes. Cows and their babes were everywhere.
Riding with the windows down to catch the earthy smells of pinon and cedar.
The Range skillfully mixes Art with All American fare.
The Bathroom Art is Photo-Realism Spectacular…
At The Range, if you’re “Famous Enough”, you can autograph a Plate for the Plate Wall.
There’s even a gift shop for not-quite-tourists.
Filled to Overflowing with Caps in every Color.
Petroglyph-inspired Mugs.
Navajo Churro Sheep. Almost life-size. With Goofy Faces everyone can Love.
Sweet Cow Love All Around.
And Luscious New Mexico Landscapes.
Laughing about the Day and sharing a Meal with each other.
Blue Corn Chips and Red Chile Salsa for openers.
Blue Corn Chicken Enchiladas with Beans and Rice.
Turkey with Cranberry Chutney. My favorite.
There’s even time for Dessert…it’s a Vacation!
And a Take-Home Jar of Green Chile Salsa.
Isn’t that what a Mini-Vacation is all about?
Simple Magic.
If I ever get to your part of the country — and I hope to as NM is on my bucket list — I am conferring with you on very fun spots to go. This one looks terrific. I love all the colors; a happy place! Happy Staycation!
Oh my, won’t that be fun! I will make up a fun list…and hope to get to meet you too! 🙂
Great fun! Thanks for taking us along.
So glad you enjoyed it! …now if there was a beach destination close to home we’d be golden. 🙂
Beautiful downtown Bernalillo – good times
So close…yet so far.
You have inspired me! Since we won’t be taking our cruise this year, I think maybe we need to plan some kind of staycation itinerary for a week (besides his lordship getting a knee replaced!)
Oh my Calen…I am so glad I gave you inspiration…I have to say I’m not totally sold on a staycation but I think that is because staying home with no travel was forced on us rather than a choice. It is a bit of a challenge to find fun interesting things to do but perhaps that is part of the charm of staying home…it’s all about the hunt. And the being together part is what really makes it special and that can happen whether home or abroad or somewhere in between. Sending good wishes for you all to get well soon. And take us along on your staycation…we’ll pack very light. 🙂
