Jim Henson. Kermit the Frog. Bert and Ernie. The Count.

They are Here! At the Albuquerque Museum. Our local museum that doesn’t always get the fabulous credit it should. Jim Henson and Friends, a traveling exhibit! I was giddy with excitement.

Mr. Doodle was on board. We had a Sunday Morning Date. The girls, not so much. But they indulged me and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We all got swept up in the Magic.

I brought along my old puppet friend, Madison Magic. Once upon a time, Mr. Doodle and I had a puppet show on the local cable channel. In between lawyering and kids and everyday life, we did puppets. And we did it all…scripts, music, costumes, filming, editing, Elmo reader reading, lights, cameras, casting. Miss Doodle was an honorary member of the cast. Truth be told, she was more of a prop because the puppets can’t pick up stuff, but she did have some lines. We even did green screen before there really was green screen.
You can see Madison Magic travel to New York City here…
Madison Magic and Friends Go to NYC!

For me, the thrill of bringing a puppet to life is magical. And I find it hilarious and special that our girls consider all this puppeteering as simply a part of the family. Jim Henson has always been my Touchstone. A genius right up there with Walt Disney. Both artists believed education and art are vital together. I do too.
Kermit the Frog is the Front and Center Star of this Show.

All green and sparkly, created from Jim Henson’s mom’s old coat. I posed with Madison and was delirious. A guard asked me what I’d do if Kermit waved back…I almost expected him too.

Kermit and Jim. Making Magic.

Did You See a Little Wave? No? Ok. Just checking.

The exhibit told the Jim Henson Story. Here are his Early Muppets.

Hi ya Bert! Hi Ernie. Who Didn’t Love this Duo?

Bert and Ernie…Characters originally made famous from It’s a Wonderful Life. Sesame Street came on the scene when I was an education major and a student teacher. I was enchanted and embraced the concepts and characters in my own classroom. Making learning fun was my mantra.

Remember him…The Count?

We had an opportunity to create a New Muppet. The girls were game.

Hugs for Luck.

Meet Mr. Goggly Boy.

Grover. A star in his own right.

Scooter.

The goofy scientists. Beaker and Bunsen Honeydew.

Jim Henson. How special to be your own Muppet.

I had a proud moment to be honored as part of the cast.

But Here is My favorite newest Muppet in the gallery. 🙂

Madison was thrilled to meet the Jim Henson Stars.

We were too.

Someday we’ll find it, The Rainbow Connection…the Lovers, the Dreamers, and Me…We.

Jim Henson, Thanks for Showing Us How to Embrace the Magic.

One Giggle at a Time.
