A Story in 100 Words or Less. This is the Photo Prompt.

My girl. I can hardly imagine the thought.
But here she is.
Giggling. Reaching out to touch the sprays of water.
Dark Eyes filled with diamonds. Closely cropped raven hair.
New Clothes. First Time in Shoes.
Shy smile.
China is losing a beauty.
We promise to keep her healthy and safe.
I pray she will be happy.
But we are taking her far from everything she knows.
A tug on my dress. As soft as a whisper.
Mama. Hua.
She points and then shapes her hands into the lotus.
Hua!
Yes, my girl. My daughter. Hua. Flower!

A question pondered by both adoptive and biological mothers. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Dear Jeanne,
Sweet story. Hope things work out for mother and daughter.
Shalom,
Rochelle
My tiny tale actually combined both our daughters from China…love the challenge of only 100 words!
Beautiful child …. lucky to be loved by her new parents, who are awesome!
So glad you enjoyed this tiny tale…our Hua Mei.

A combination of both girls made for an interesting story!
Wonderful story π We’ve just finished watching ‘Little Fires Everywhere’, which is also a novel that deals (partly) with adoption like this – great programme π
Thank you for the tip on an adoption story – so glad you enjoyed my short story!
I have to say this is absolutely lovely, Jeanne. And adoption is a beautiful thing when all parties are willing.
Thank you Dale, this one was a joy to write.
