She so wanted him. But he was moving on. She had uncovered the first clumsy clue – a Springsteen CD in the glove box. Must have been a pleasant drive to the Hamptons with Bruce blaring.
In the coolness of the backyard grape arbor, her brushstrokes flow. With a tattered photo for inspiration, the till-death-do-us-part dream couple emerges in oils. Almost life size.
Time doesn’t matter. Only the canvas and the paint are real.
Silently, moonlight appears through a break in the clouds.
The man on the canvas smiles. His beautiful wet eye winks hello.
I’m here for you always.
