Do You Love the Look of Vintage Linens? But Not the Price?
I Found the Trick to Creating Vintage Linens – Cold Coffee and a Washer!
The Before –
A Fun Cotton Duvet Cover and Shams with the Map of Old NYC – from H&M.

Nice. But I Wanted a More Aged, Old World-Vintage Look.

HERE’S MY TRICK TO CREATING VINTAGE LINENS…IN 3 SIMPLE STEPS.
Say Hello to a Pot of Coffee and the Washing Machine.

Step One: Brew a Strong Pot of Coffee and Let it Steep to Cool.

Make it Very Strong. Almost Too Strong to Drink.

Step Two: Throw the Duvet Cover and Shams into the Washer. Pour the Coffee into the Detergent Dispenser of the Washer.

Add a Little Bit of Detergent and Set a Normal Wash Cycle.

Step Three: Hang Duvet Cover and Shams on the Clothesline to Dry.

And the AFTER…

Kissed by Candlelight.

Simple. Fun. Easy to Do.
And the Cost was Just One Pot of Cold Coffee. And a Spoonful of Magic.
Looks great, Jeanne! I wonder what will happen when you wash it again… keep us posted.
Thanks Jeanie – washing over time fades the color which is ok too. The coffee gives it brown undertones, whereas tea would give it more pinks.
What a great idea! Iโve tea-stained things before, but have not tried coffee. We always have leftover coffee, Iโll have to try it!
Hi Danielle – thanks for stopping by…next time let’s drink some of that coffee before we pour the leftovers in the washer. ๐
It looks fantastic. I’ve used tea before, but never coffee. I imagine the coffee would give a stronger colour than the tea. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Carol – thanks for stopping by…with each wash, the coffee color fades over time which is fine. I was surprised at how easy it was to do and with great results. ๐
Now that is pretty cool!!
The coffee aged it perfectly. Love it!
Hi Jennifer – thanks for visiting…actually, no one was more surprised than me with the results. ๐
That is such a great idea! I love how it turned out.
Thanks Linda – easy, quick, done!
That is such a neat idea, I have done flags but would have never thought to age a duvet.
I never would have thought to do flags – that is an excellent idea…I actually aged the duvet cover, not the comforter…
That looks so cool! I want to try this1
Hi Stacy – thanks so much – glad you enjoyed it!
That is QUITE interesting. My mind is spinning on what I will like to make look vintage…
Hi Renee – can’t wait to see what you come up with!
