Clunky Concrete Blocks. Eyesores. Heavy and Awkward to Move. But Necessary to Build Walls.
At the Edge of a Patio, I wanted a Sweet Flower Bed.
Low Maintenance. Always Flowering. And Lots of Color.
But the Soil Here is More Clay than Soil. Only a Raised Bed with Amended Soil will have any chance of Growing Flowers
Time to Bring in the Heavy Lifters to Corral the Soil and Create a Simple, Raised Bed.
Hello Concrete Blocks!
We Went to Work.
Concrete Blocks Were Lined Up Along the Patio Edge. End to End. On Two Long Sides.
The Bed is filled with Potting Soil and Compost Mixture of Egg Shells and Coffee Grinds.
With the First Warm Days of Spring, We Fill the Bed with Geraniums.
Pinks, Reds, Lilacs. Amazon LINK.
The plants are lined Up Single File down the Center of the Bed.
Then a Sprinkling of Flower Seeds for Good Measure.
A Surprise Mix of Wildflowers. Amazon LINK.
A Simple, Hard Edge Border Filled With Sweet Flowers.
Sweet, Sweet Flowers.
To Complete the Charm, Add Some Concrete Toppers to Finish Off the Blocks.
And Create a Bit of Outdoor Seating!
Soon the Concrete Blocks Will Disappear and All You’ll See Are Flowers!
Sweet, Sweet Flowers!
Just Like Magic!
