Coyote Fences are Made from Latillas = Tree Branches randomly wired together to create an outdoor enclosure. Coyote fences are simple to build, stand strong, and are great for protecting animals from, well, Coyotes.
The look of Coyote Fences is classic Santa Fe. Rustic and simple with artsy-elegance.
All Made with Latillas.
How About a Lantern Version of the Iconic Coyote Fence?
A Latilla Lantern!
Perfect for Dining Outdoors Under the Stars!
First, take a Walk through the Yard and Gather Sticks (“latillas”) – about 12 – 18 inches is good.
Begin with good pile of Sticks for the lantern. Straight, Bent, Tall, Short, Forked.
All Will Work Together.
Next, find a Base for the Lantern. A plastic bowl (minus the lid) is perfect.
About 8″ in diameter and 3″ high.
Now the fun part. Start building the “fence”.
Hot Glue binds the sticks together and Attaches the Sticks to the Base.
Slow and steady wins. And listen carefully…the Sticks will tell you where they need to go. 🙂
Keep building around the bowl. The hot glue can be cleaned up once all the sticks are firmly in place.

Add some short sticks for support braces on the structure as you move along.
A Lantern is beginning to Appear!
The Top of the Lantern is left Open to the Sky.
The Sticks Touch each other Creating Tons of Movement and Sculptural Design.
Done! Let the Piece Rest and Give the Glue Time to Harden to Create a Stable Lantern.
A Candle will always Give off a Powerful Light in the Darkness.
